The Mendip Edge Federation comprises four schools determined to achieve excellence through collaboration, partnership and challenge whilst maintaining their individuality.

The Mendip Edge Federation was established in January 2014 as a hard federation between Cheddar First School, Draycott & Rodney Stoke Church of England VA First School, Fairlands Middle School and Shipham Church of England VC First School.

We aim to:

  • Promote the well-being of pupils.
  • Maximise the impact of our shared expertise and resources at all levels.
  • Learn from our strengths, recognise areas for development and support change.
  • Constantly challenge ourselves and each other.
  • Strive for excellence, high levels of achievement and offer outstanding opportunities for all our pupils and staff.

Consultation on joining the Wessex Learning Trust:

The Governing Body of the Mendip Edge Federation (MEF) has proposed that our four federated schools join the Wessex Learning Trust (WLT), an established multi academy trust comprising upper, middle, first and primary schools around the Cheddar Valley.

In advance of a final decision being made and as part of the due diligence process, the Governors would like to consult with our wide school community.  This community consultation period will run until Friday 22 June 2019.
